Despite being known as a thriving urban hub of the South Coast, Bournemouth offers many beautiful lush areas just waiting for an adventure to begin!
location: hengistbury head
perfect for: Beach running, ball throwing, exploring
not ideal for: Dogs with difficulties socialising
about: Hengistbury Head nature reserve offers some of the most beautiful coastal walks around! Dogs are allowed to run free on the beach all year round giving them plenty of fun chasing balls and wallowing in the sea. A path up the cliff leads through the beautiful wooded nature reserve area offering a diverse selection of places for your dog to explore once it's had enough of the beach life! This path eventually leads all the way through to the beach huts on the peninsula where you can enjoy the beautiful views across Christchurch Harbour before you loop back around. A word of warning - this area is FULL of visitors, dog walkers, golfers and school trips during the summer months, meaning your dog has to be well socialised and able to handle distractions!
Stunning sandy beaches and a lush green nature reserve! What more could you ask for when looking for the perfect coastal spot.
Open spaces for playing fetch, woods to run through and explore, ponds to jump in and wallow, you'll forget you're in the middle of Bournemouth!
location: queens park
perfect for: Ball throwing, open space, wooded area
not ideal for: Easily spooked dogs (golf balls), wet days
about: This public park is a beautiful spot of nature within bustling Bournemouth and offers exciting adventures for the pooches, whether they're bolting in and out of the wooded areas, over the rolling hills or taking a dunk in the pond (only if there's no birds on the water!) they simply love Queen's Park! Be aware however that this is also a public golf course and some dogs get spooked by the balls which may on occasion fly uncomfortably close (although everybody is very respectful and aware of each other). There is such a large expanse to wander through you easily forget you're in an urban area!
